2nd Grade

Dear 2nd Grade Families,

I’m going to post some favorite activities here that we have been doing in music class.

We’ve recently been hand jiving to “Love Grows Under the Wild Oak Tree” as a warm-up! Here is the link to listen, sing and move along.  Now that they’re home, they can actually sing it!

We also try to practice reading and performing simple rhythms each week.  To do this click on this link and then the second tab from the left in order to do some echos.  Encourage them to pull out their egg shaker, bells, or rhythm sticks for this!

They can do the same to practice their solfa singing.  Click here and then on any of the first three tabs to practice echos.

Lately we’ve also been exploring Saint-Saens’ “Carnival of the Animals“.  Lately we have listened to the “The Aquarium”, “Personages With Long Ears” and “The Aviary”.  You’ll have to scroll down until you find the animal and then click on “Intro” for that animal.

Need to move around?  Pull out the movement scarf and do the following…

Hopefully these things will be just as successful at home as they have been in school.  Enjoy!

Mrs. Iltis
